Zelda Ocarina of Time Walkthrough - Kokiri Forest
Go right and find the entrance to the Deku tree. A Kokiri guy named Mido is blocking the way and will tell you that you need a sword and a shield to enter. Go back to your house and find the area with lots of fences. Try to navigate between the fences, on the other side you will find a small hole in the wall that you have to crawl into by pressing A while facing it. Hold up on the analog stick and Link will crawl along to the other side. Take note of all the helpful tips on how to control young Link. On the other side watch out for a rolling boulder. The only thing you can do to deal with this is to hide in the little alcoves to avoid it. At your right collect the Blue Rupee (worth 5). From the hole, head left, then take the first right, then left (there's another Blue Rupee in the corner on the right), then right again. Look for a large chest which contains the kokiri sword. Open the menu and select the sword from the equipment Section. If you see the sword in Link's hand you have equipped it correctly. The shield you need to enter the Deku tree is worth 40 Rupees, so we need to find some within the Kokiri Forest first. Head back to Mido and enter his house and you will find some Rupees in his treasure chest. You should also be able to find the 40 rupees you need within the bushes and shrubs around the area. Once you have acquired 40 rupees, head for the shop where you can buy your shield. It has an orange roof just by the water. By the way, before you enter the store, a Kokiri Forest girl will call you. Z-Target her and press A. She'll talk to you about Z-Targeting people. Before buying anything, head through the little extra space on the far end of the shop to find another Blue Rupee. Now, talk to the shop owner and buy the Deku Shield. Be sure to equip it in the menu, after that you can use it with the R button. If you press and hold the L/Z button while defending with the shield, then you can move around while using it. Now make sure that both your sword and shield are equipped and go right towards Mido again. Speak with the little elf guy blocking the path and he will allow you to pass if you are properly equipped. With the sword and the shield Mido now allows you to pass and begin your walk down the path. Using the sword, cut the evil plants (Deku Babas) thatpop out of the ground to receive Deku Sticks. Approach the great Deku Tree and listen to what it has to say. The great Deku Tree opens its mouth wide to reveal and entrance. It's now time to go inside the tree and break the curse.
